Unvisited Tombs

“But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.”

― George Eliot, Middlemarch: A Study of Provincial Life

Woah. You're going to have to explain this one. No idea what it means--maybe because it's 1 o' clock in the morning.

Well, I think it means that while the majority of mankind will never be well-known or long-remembered, the decisions we make about how to live our lives and what we do with our time can still have an amazing impact on others.
Maybe no one will visit my tomb, but I still want to live a life of significance - working to bring God glory.
